McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Batman - Batman Beyond: Future's end Build-a-figure

Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series is probably one of the most beloved animated Batman shows of all time. I certainly loved it as a kid, even though at the time I wasn't actually super into Batman (TMNT and Xmen was more my thing at the time). The show was followed up by New Adventures and then eventually Batman Beyond, a futuristic sci-fi cyberpunk setting 20 years later. That means 2019. Oh dear, if only they knew what we know now!

Terry McGuiness is the new Batman under the tutelage of a very old Bruce Wayne. The themes of the show are much darker than the first two shows despite being developed by the same people. I quite liked the show, and am in general fond of when shows take characters ahead in time to tell different stories of how they've grown and changed. The new Batman of the future has a suit that conforms to his body, has thrusters and gliding wings for flight, and is generally immune to bullets, lasers, electrical shocks etc. Pretty supped up! It isn't hard to make a good figure out of this iteration of Batman, and for the most part, McFarlane nails it.

Sculpt/Paint: 2/3 Painting wise this is pretty easy to do since it is literally all black, white eyes, and a few red accents. Sculpt wise it is good but looks more realistic and less animated, which is on par for McFarlanization's of things. I do like it but I don't LOVE love the way they did the wings. Yes they can attach to the wrists (pegs for this are kinda obvious and ugly) but parts of it show over the shoulders which isn't the design of it in the show. I think it might've been better to make them attachable to the upper arms and not mounted on the back they way they did it.

Articulation: 3/3 (30+ points) Minus the standard lack of good abdominal motion, this figure has the slimness to move around a lot with the points of articulation used. Good range of hip, arm, knee, wrist, and ankle motion. Nice one!

Accessories: 1/1 This particular version (there are two) has the right kind of batarang for my taste, but no flame booster effects like the other stand-alone figure does. This is maybe also to do with the figure having a huge build-fig part for the Jokerbot. Also includes batarang holding hands (yay, both!), and the standard stand and card.

Fun Factor: 2/3 He's a pretty cool figure, and in-flight poses is even better. I really do enjoy him!

Verdict: 8/10 Worthy He's a really nice addition to all the different Batmen I have, but it may not be for everyone. I think if you particularly love the show you might want to get both this one and the standalone one since that one has more of the human face look whereas this one is a solid flat lower half of the suit.

Accessories

I do like the covered face mask
even though it's not mostly seen in the show

This cape tho...

Cape also gets in the way of kicking. If you
pull it out to the side it throws the balance a lot

Very flexible hip joints!

I have never been able to do this with a McFarlane
figure before now

In flight, pretty good!

DOS batarangs!
