You know those totally random purchases when you get something just because it is both A) On sale and B) cool looking? This is one such purchase! This model kit was featured on Hobbylink Japan on a pretty steep sale, and just looked cool, so I went in to see what it was like. I wasn't disappointed! It was a lot of fun to build, and you get a lot of choices. They come in pretty short at only a couple of inches though, so may not necessarily jive with all your other figures.
One of the first is deciding to build an aquatic body grave frog or a terrestrial one. I went for the aquatic body with the toad face and cigar cause it looks like it has a lot of class! You can switch the weapons to make them side-mounted onto the suit or held in the hands (albeit a bit loosely). You can equip a backpack, computer and walkie-talkie if you want as well. The aquatic look has a clear helmet to put around. The joints are pretty great, all extended ball joints that hold together well and allow for tons of flexibility.
I looked up Fifty-Seven and their lines and while I found some cool Shark-type ones with a similar body, I didn't really figure out what the story is behind the creature aside from them being a model kit with a cool look. I'm happy with that, but was just curious!
Sculpt/Paint: 2/3 The sculpt is very cool but as with a lot of model kits the paint is minimal except for the head sculpts having nice dashes of colour and details. The eyes are well done here!
Articulation: 2/3 (24 points) The ball joints allow for a wide range of flexibility despite the light frame/top-heavy design. The head can move slightly in all directions, the shoulder and hip joints have a wide range, and even here the double-jointed elbows and knees work really well. The aquatic feet have a widespread with a good ankle ball joint, so it's easy to get him to stand. The waist moves mostly as a swivel despite the ball joint. The hands are cool in that the two fingers move on swivels and the thumb moves across to be able to hold things (not too well though).
Accessories: 1/1 This figure was designed for accessories! There's a ton here: Laptop backpack block that opens up, transforming gun with a couple of swappable parts, scopes, Laptop holder, walkie-talkie, futuristic-looking pistol, cigar, stand, 3 unpainted and 3 painted heads and a plug tail, plus pieces for the terrestrial body build! Amazing.
Fun Factor: 2/3 I underestimated the weight of this figure before playing. It does actually fall forward quite a bit and the stand doesn't plug into his feet to keep him still. The pieces are a bit finicky at falling out when being handled, but it is a cool figure nonetheless.
Verdict: 7/10 Limited The figure and model build is pretty fun, but I'm not sure how anyone else fits this well into their collection without a similar height and build of figures. I don't regret it though, pretty cool!

This is my favourite head part, looks like a tough sergeant! |

You can clip on the backpack holder and laptop that folds out, and I also forgot that it has a cage that fits over the laptop too! |
|
Close-up of preferred head! The cigar falls out a little too easily though |
|
I like this one too! |
|
The pistol and walkie talkie. |
|
Swimmin' in the water! |
|
Nice balance and tons of flexibility! |

The open laptop!I'll likely paint that one day |

Alternate feet, but I prefer the more froggy ones |
