Marvel Legends Captain America - Abomination BAF

So this is yet another move on my part towards customizing. At this point I'll have to look at my notes to see what I even wanted him for! He's got decent enough paint to him and the body mold they used has a lot of good points: lots of points of articulation and an interesting throwing shield effect. The overall paint design though is probably the LEAST Captain America-y you can get!

That's because it is from the comic book storyline "Secret War" (Not Secret WARS...that's actually a different series) where Nick Fury sends a bunch of heroes to uncover a secret plot by the Latverian Prime Minister.

Sculpt&Paint: 7/10 Very good. They do a pretty good job. The paint job is mostly clean, though a bit thick on the head area. They did a good job of the eyes too. Nothing particularly special about the sculpt though. I can't say it's my favorite design on a superhero, or especially Captain America.

Articulation: 8/10 29 points  Lots of articulation and all of it words quite well. His head even has fairly decent up and down motion. I like that they included a thigh cut swivel since it gives you some more stance options.

Price/Availability: 9/10 DEAL! This is very very cheap on eBay (10-15 bucks CAD). Even though the figure is decent enough, I can see why people probably like this version of Captain America the least, and bought it just to build the BAF Abomination.

Accessories: 2/5 Okay. The  shield is pretty standard with both the peg for gripping and the clip for the wrist. The alternate hand with shield throwing effect kinda works? I can see why no other Captain America figure since has had this effect. It would have been nice to have some punching hands as well.

Fun Factor: 2/5 Okay. Despite good balance and articulation, he isn't very aesthetically neat to look at. Maybe it's the dull blue tones withe silver and red? Maybe the design is too busy. The head is definitely too high on the neck.

Verdict 28/40: Decent! Definitely not the most pleasing, but still a well done figure. Minus the paint, pretty standard for Marvel and for Captain America.

Here you can see the clip and peg.
Pretty standard for most ML Caps
That's where the shield pegs in. Also, see the head is
VERY high on the neck. They used an older Cap head with
a different Cap body.

Gotta protect what's important!

This is how he gets covert!

There's the wind up!

He pitches!

Upwards throw!

Maybe it's just a crazy energy effect...
with a hole in it....

Break down the door!

"Cap, what the hell is up with your suit?"

  1. Yeah, I'm glad you got this figure for customization purposes because that is definitely one of the worst Cap redesigns in a long line of lame Cap redesigns. The shield throwing hand was the only interesting thing about him and to hear that it's only kind of successful is disappointing but I guess points for trying something new?
