There have been many famous toy lines that have inspired tv shows and film: Transformers, He-Man, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony to name a few. Certainly less famous, yet still inspired by a toy line, is Batman Unlimited. Spawning several direct-to-video movies and three seasons of a show, there have been a few different action figures in different styles. I own one, Batgirl, in her classic New 52 uniform, and now this Vampire Batman. It's too bad he never appeared in the show, because he looks amazing. There have been many comics where the temptation to make Batman a vampire has been too great: the Batman & Dracula trilogy to name one. I get it! Imagine Batman as a super-strong mutant that can fly! Reall would it have been so bad if that was Batman all along??
Anyway, this figure is a product of 2015, with pretty classic Mattel articulation. He comes with a single accessory, some kind of red dagger/cross which I don't have since I got this in a lot sale. Regardless, he's pretty cool and I couldn't resist a clean-looking, undead version of Batman to go along with my many, many other iterations of the character.
Sculpt/Paint: 2/3 He's got decent sculpt but not a ton of paint. Most of the paint goes directly to the face highlighting his red eyes, open mouth and cowl features. the blue for the suit is not a classic tone, but that's ok. To make room for wings they sculpted the cape a bit funny to pinch sharply near the shoulders. The wings look good but are a bit small to carry even this thinner-built Batman. They have no paint on them. The cape and cowl do have some light blue shading on the black, however.
Articulation: 2/3 (29 points) He's got that classic Mattel crotch I really don't like because when the figure kicks out or widens their stance, the cuts look awful. That said he's legs with a lower thigh cut are pretty poseable. There is no double joint for the knees, but there are for the elbows and wrists. The head can look up alright, but the ab crunch is fairly worthless. The wings do move laterally in parallel with the body at least.
Accessory: 1/1 I guess he comes with a red dagger cross thing. I don't know if I'd care for a Batman with his own stake, but it does technically come with the figure. (No pictures sorry, mine was a lot sale with missing accessories)
Fun Factor: 2/3 He's a cool-looking vampire Batman and frankly one of the few Vampire Batman figures ever made, so kinda cool that way. His gaunt appearance with the wings makes him a good character to pose flying or crouched over victims.
Verdict: 7/10 Limited I feel that this might be limited enjoyment for some. He's a bit light and not balanced due to having both the wings and cape, and is a pretty niche character that isn't based off anything you'd see in a show. The blue isn't classic enough for classic fans, and the subject matter is pretty niche. You don't need this one, but I like it, it's neato!
Love the blood rage captured in this figure |
Really good paint here but it could've been improved with sharper/longer fans |
Back view...ack! So blurry! |

You can in fact pose him one-legged! |
