DC Collectibles Firefly - Arkham Origins

In the Arkham Universe,  Garfield Lynds is a former FX artist for Panessa studios and raging pyromaniac. After being fired from his job, he later gets a job working for the military developing torching weapons. An accident causes him to be lit on fire, burning part of his body. He steals a military-grade suit and jetpack and causes havoc to the city. In Origins, he is hired as one of the 8 assassins to kill Batman. He plants bombs under a bridge as a trap for Batman and tries to burn him up! It does not go as planned.

I quite like this design for Firefly. Most of the time he's got a strange skin-tight suit, regular-looking jetpack, goggles, and a flamethrower. This one is neat in how his wings have fans and reminds me a lot of how they did Vulture's wings in Spiderman: Homecoming. He helmet with goggles and other armor pieces add to a much cooler-looking Firefly. That said, he's not super poseable, and the wings and tubing that leads to his gun can be frustrating to the point where I actually glued the wings in place. I was able to get him for a lot cheaper than he is sold online. This is HARD to find. I feel like I spent three years searching for this one for under 100. Now, the 8 assassins are complete!!!

Sculpt/Paint: 3/3 This is just really perfect here. Lots of shading, damage and scorch effects, and well-layered paint throughout. The sculpt is super detailed and very game-accurate. Zero complaints here.

Articulation: 1/3 (14 points) He's got mostly hinge swivels for the elbows and shoulders, swivels for the hands, extremely limited thigh joints, single jointed knees and no articulation for the head, ankles or waits. Ouch...a pretty static figure. No ankle articulation is pretty weird, even for the randomness of articulation that is DC Collectibles. --------------------------

Accessories: 1/1 He sort of has 3 accessories here: his two wings and the flamethrower with attached hose. The wings have awesome detail and paint, and really do call up the vibe of military plane parts. They are, however, very annoying in that they peg in with a soft block that falls out so much I glued them in, because frankly, I don't want to display Firefly without the fly part. The flamethrower is pretty cool and he can hold it fairly well. The tube can come loose with posing, but I'd rather that than have it permanently attached and rip somewhere. Nice work here!

Fun Factor: 1/3 This is a figure kind of like Bane. He looks really cool on a shelf, but with the limited range in the joints and cumbersome accessories, you're always kinda worried wings will come loose, or parts will break. No ankle articulation combined with the heavy top weight with the wings makes him nigh impossible to pose dynamically on the ground. Also, his wings are super frustrating. The pegs do not fit well, and because of the weight and strange angle they are hard to glue in or sticky tack in. I'll end up likely drilling a pin in and permanently gluing them.

Verdict: 6/10 As an action figure he's a bit limited but very cool looking. I think he's also neat even if you just want a cool winged jetpack fighter person, but probably not for the price you'll find him at. I had a yearning to complete my 8 assassins and with that done, I'll mostly keep him in a couple of set poses and leave it at that!

Really cool helmet and wings on this figure

Back view. Note the huge amount of sticky tack required to
temporarily hold it in place after the glue didn't work!

Absolutely can't hold a pose except standing perfectly straight!

Firefly vs Batman

The 8 Assassins finally!
