DC Direct Scarecrow: Arkham Asylum

Arkham Asylum had a very suspenseful and frightening atmosphere. One part of that intensely blood-curdling, hair-raising experience were the scenes involving Killer Croc and Scarecrow.
The fear-induced delusions were excellent, being both successful in jump scares and chilling horror.

His appearance was more like that of the classic incarnations: burlap sack coverings, rope ties, glowing yellow eyes and for the added terror each finger of one hand adorned with fear-toxin needles. Most of the details are in the stitches, and they did a good job of his representation from the game. This figure really suffers in articulation even more so than others in the line (and that's saying something!). He does come with one bag-o-toxin accessory, and that's nice enough.

Sculpt&Paint: 7/10 It's decent enough though the bandages and eyes could use more definition to make them extra scary. The hand needles are well done sculpt-wise, as are the rope and burlap bits.

Articulation: 4/10 16 points of articulation, but they are fairly limiting. He does have the ankle joints (mostly swivels) but no knee joints! What?! Terrifying.

Price/Availability: 4/10 A few available online, but at a higher markup. You'd probably only get this if you REALLY wanted the Asylum version. The Arkham knight version is cheaper, but I find it is far less terrifying.

Accessories: 3/10 His single fear toxin sack is fine. He holds it well and it has some shading in the bag folds.

Verdict: 18/40 You'd probably get it if you wanted it badly enough for your collection. It's ok!

First time I've noticed the paint app ran on his eye!
Sac-o-toxins!

Precious!

Scarecrow was well done in this game, but
he really does only have the one gimmick.

This is the part where Batman's willpower wins vs.
mind altering chemicals. Try again next time, Scarecrow!

  1. I've never played the games so this might be nit-picking but why does he need the gas mask if his fear toxin is in needles on his hands?

  2. Initially, he apparently gases Batman to suffer fear inducing hallucinations, then injects him with the needles to dive him into the mini game portion of the Scarecrow nightmare. Mechanics wise ok, but pretty redundant story wise!

    1. Ah. Gotcha. I mean it's totally reasonable to have back-up weapons. I mean it's not like Batman only carries batarangs.
