McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Red Robin (Tim Drake) - New 52

Who is the best Robin? Well out of the primary 4; Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Damian Wayne, my favorite often changes but I quite like Damian Wayne's brutal intensity alongside Batman. One thing is for sure, Tim Drake is the most analytically intelligent. He spent the shortest time as Robin before he was deployed to do his own thing as Red Robin. Then going back to Robin. Because comics!

As Red Robin in the New 52, he wears the Robin colours, minus the green. He has a crossed bandoliers with his new symbol in the middle attached to mechanical gliding wings with his cape. He looks a bit more armored/padded than usual but all the elements of Robin are there. He also uses a metal staff which I like for his design. His head is a bit smaller than other Bat-Family members in this line, and while there are some areas that could use some more paint detail he looks great! The face sculpt seems to capture the smart look of Tim Drake, as does the slimmer, athletic body compared to the buffer Nightwing or Batman.

I absolutely love the poses you can get this guy into, and he's a huge improvement in the articulation of nearly any Red Robin I've seen, DC Classics included (don't hate!). There is very little else you need to say about this figure, except he might be in competition with Nightwing for sexy male superhero!

Sculpt: 3/3 Like I said before, just chefs kiss to this sculpt. So well done, lots of muscle details, decent proportions and cool cape/wing designs that flare out just enough to do lots of cool poses.

Articulation: 3/3 (30 points with wings) You can do a lot with this figure, despite the typical limited McFarlane waist articulation. His knees bend back quite far on the double joint, and everything works better than usual due to the build being a lot less bulky. He has lots of range!

Accessories: 1/1 He comes with his sectioned metal staff, which is decent enough, but sometimes accessories that are held are far bulkier than they need to be from McFarlane. The staffs diameter is thicker than Robins's wrists, which is strange for a staff. It looks a bit off even. On the plus side, he holds it very well!

Fun Factor: 3/3 He's really fun to pose! He looks great and has pretty good balance for a winged character. I don't think you could do much better for this version.

Verdict: 10/10 I don't know how this happened but this is my first 10 in a long while! I don't understand you if you are a Batman/Batfamily fan and don't have this one. He is great, and though I don't have the most recent Robin, this one looks better in my eyes.

Close up shows nice hair and mask details. I like the facial
expression, mostly neutral but some character to it.

He's a lot easier to balance in stances than he is
in a standing vanilla pose surprisingly.

I love the shots I'm able to get with his head shape and tilt

I could've used the wing to help with balance but
this is all the figure. Pretty good!

Really really enjoyed photographing  this guy with
all the possibilities posing his wings

He's the in-flight entertainment!

Not even a fair comparison though the left DC
Collectibles figure does look more kid-like and also has
a nicer, bright red. After that, it's all McFarlane.
