McFarlane Toys Sokka - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Sokka is one of the most hilarious characters in the show. He's a smart, tactical warrior of the Northern Water tribe who spins out endless jokes, witty sarcastic remarks, and overblown dramatic reactions. He's one of my favourites and is still a respectable and intelligent fighter. This is a really good representation of his appearance throughout most of the show. They put him in with all his weapons which is cool and the colours and sculpt are well done. His facial expression is animated enough in style, but his smirk seems more on the smarmy side than the coy side. His eyes should have been bigger. Anyway, still good.

Sculpt/Paint: 3/3 Dead on for Sokka's overall look and I only found a couple of things to nitpick at, the facial expression and there's some splotching on the top of one of the boots. Kinda looks like they painted them blue and just painted the brown over it?

Articulation: 2/3 (29 points) The waist swivel is actually really good on Sokka but the ab crunch is basically non-existent, and his double-jointed range is a bit limited for knees. His shoulder range is great, and his head isn't bad though tends to slowly swivel back. May need to take a hairdryer to that one and loosen it up.

Accessories: 1/1 He comes with almost everything his season one character has: His boomerang with back holder, strange club (I still don't know why it has a differently coloured ball in the metal?) and his machete. He also comes with the standard stand. I am a bit disappointed neither hand holds the weapons well. The boomerang hand barely holds it, so I often wedge the corner hole of the weapon in his first finger or thumb to keep a better grip. The other two weapons are good but his hand is not well shaped for it and they often fall out.

Fun Factor: 1/3 Don't get me wrong, I love the character to death, but this version has some missing things here that make him less fun. 1) He's been McFarlanized, meaning textures that don't exist in the OC, and even the feet are texturized at the bottom so that he falls over easily. Because of the waist bend, limited knees and awkward weapon holding, he's difficult to pose with his weapons. Not so great! I was hoping for better.

Verdict: 7/10 (Limited) I think it's a decent offering but it pales in comparison to the other two I have reviewed. I really hope they improve the line and make Kataara and Toph at the very least so I can have a 7-inch scale Team Avatar! They have a lot of ability to reuse sculpts here but in this scale have mostly only done it with Aang and Zuko. They need to branch out like they have with their 5-inch line...but make it better! Please.

A good lot of accessories,
keeping in mind this is Book One
version only so no meteorite sword...yet

Pretty decent sculpt could have done
something more Anime-ish in my
opinion.

Back holster is good, though I think
in the show it had blue triangle decorations?
I could be wrong, better check later. The
boomerang fits...ok? Doesn't fall out at least

One thing that impresses me about
McFarlane range of motion is that
characters can often touch/reach for things behind their backs. Neato!

His weapons seem as comical
as he does!

KICKAPOW!

Team Avatar Vs. Zuko! I don't know why
he never showed off any skill with Dragons Breath
like his Uncle Iroh. Maybe a little to warm
his hands when he almost froze to death?
