DC Collectibles The Mad Hatter - Arkham City

Jervis Tetch is a delusional criminal who believes he is the reincarnation of Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter. He uses his background in hypnotist to commit crimes, and even has a device in his hat that aids with this (how? No idea). In the game, he is a side mission where Batman has to rescue a woman Tetch has kidnapped and dressed up as his "Alice". Later, Batman fights on a massive clock while battling goons with White Rabbit heads. It's pretty creepy! He also has a Most Wanted DLC mission in Arkham Knight. I like his design, with all the patchwork coat and generally grubby look. He's kind of perfect for who he is! I rarely enjoy appearances by him in comics, shows or films but in this case it was a fun little side story.

This figure is a pretty good representation though aside the articulation, I wish the hat fit better. He is the Mad Hatter after all!

Sculpt/Paint: 3/3 Pretty spot on represntation. I like the muted greens and browns of the patchwork robe, the tie and face sculpt and even lace and stitch details are well done here. Wish they had made the hat a bit wider to fit his head further down.

Articulation: 1/3 (10 points) Slightly better than the penguin, but similar issues. Lower body is only waist swivel and boot cut swivels. The hinge swivel shoulder joints are bad, but his arms are permenantly 90 degrees with only wrist cuts to move his 90 degree bent wrists. You can't really do a ton with that. The head also has some decent pivot with some impedence caused by the collar.

Accessories: 1/1 He doesn't need much save his hat. He also comes with a stand. Wish the hat fit better, I'll say that again and again.

Fun Factor: 1/3 Again, you can't really make him look great in many poses. I find the arms really bothersome for that. Basically he can tip his hat pose and thats the only thing that looks reasonable. Too bad!

Verdict: 6/10 Limited. The sculpt and paint basically saves this figure, like some of the other recent entries, from being a total wash. Completionists? Sure, everyone else, don't think you'd want this one for how limited it is. But with the deal I had to have it. After all, when it comes to figure collectors, aren't we all mad?

Such a cool coat and all the details
painted.

Hat mix 1!

Hat mix 2! I think I like 1 best.
