Panda Mony Toys - Sham (Alter Nation)

Sham's name is pretty apt for two reasons: you can't quite tell what his true motivations are since he is both a saviour in his mini-comic and yet is somewhat cold-blooded (yes! I went there!) and frees the main villain, Sabotage (yes, he is a member of the GK Special forces). The second reason is the most obvious and that is that he is a chameleon man!

I absolutely love his look and his accessories which do make him very much the covert spy and saboteur of the team. The figure has a really nice translucent green and yellow throughout the skin. He's pretty snappy in his bow tie and has pretty good lower limb articulation although the upper body leaves a lot to be desired. His action feature is pretty neat, and the end of that tongue is really quite sticky!

Sculpt/Paint: 3/5 He's got a pretty cool mould of that translucence and his paint is basic but well done. My particular figure's left shoulder joint and hip were built too close to the peg and so rub off a LOT of paint when being moved. Although the tail is cool and very squishy to play with, I wish it wasn't so heavy! Between that and the play gimmick gear in the back makes it hard for him to stand.

Articulation: 3/5 (17 points): He's got no head swivel (due to the action feature) or waist swivel (not sure why because I don't think the feature goes that deep). His shoulders are good enough, single jointed elbows don't quite do 90, and wrists are just swivels. His tongue is articulated though with the gimmick! The tail isn't really a point of articulation because it just flops and generally impedes his balance. The hips ball pegs work super well, the knees are just kinda ok and the ankles have amazing rocker and movement range. Just like the other figures in this like, it's a super weird mix of really great and very poor articulation, and that does come with the price point territory.

Accessories: 4/5 Like Albert VII, I'm giving this guy one more point for sweet accessories. not particularly well painted exactly, but the umbrella has a retracting blade (cool), he's got this ridiculously massive fake book with a hinge to put in his dynamite (wow), his silenced pistol is just plain great and there's, of course, his comic. Pretty much everything you need for the character! In an ideal, higher-priced world it would include an alternate tail that could grab stuff, and the ability to move his eyes so he looks straight ahead since he doesn't have a neck.

Fun Factor: 3/5 I really like his character design, but like Daart, due to his engineering you can't keep him balanced in a lot of poses, he falls easily on his spindly legs and not being able to focus his eyes/head sort of reduce what you can do with him. That said these are definitely more aimed at kids ao I'm sure those points would be irrelevant to someone else.

Verdict: 13/20 Good He's pretty good on his own grounds, being a sweet secret agent chameleon man! You might pass on this one though if you're an adult collector who doesn't like play gimmicks, which I guess goes for the whole line really.
