Mafex Medicom Catwoman - Batman Hush

Catwoman has always walked a tightrope between being a burglar-style villain and an antihero that helps out Batman and his allies. I have always liked her character in the comics because of how she balances and foils Batman's way too serious demeanour and tone. The Hush comics put Catwoman front and center to a whole wack of crazy plots, including ones that go against and for Batman's goals. Catwoman starts off by being mind controlled by Poison Ivy into stealing some ransom money, but eventually is freed from her grasp, and gains the trust of Batman. He reveals his identity to her and a romance blossoms in the story.
This Catwoman has a classic plain black suit with goggles that became popular post-post-crisis storyline. The whip is more ropelike than the typical black whip you see in other iterations. This version sports the large belt buckle and nice sturdy boots as well, which REALLY helps keep the figure stable. It comes with a handful of accessories and is probably the most poseable Catwoman I own. The feel of the figure is a bit light but the joints are solid and neither stick nor are they too loose. Yay!

Sculpt/Paint:3/3 It'd be hard to mess this one up, aside from the head sculpt of course. The scheme is very plain but the details are well done. I find the figure a slight bit oddly proportioned based on the way they cut the joints, but this is nearly always the case when you add articulation: you sacrifice proportions and authenticity of form to the source material.

Articulation: 3/3 (30 points) Like I said, this is the most articulated Catwoman I own. A big part of this is the two-part ab system that allows very good mid-section posing, as well as all the well-engineered double-jointed elbows, knees, shoulders and hips. I appreciate the neck having two flexible ball joints that allow for a wide range up/down and side to side.

Accessories: 1/1 This is a pretty complete package. 8 pairs of hands in various states of clawing, whip-holding and thumbs up! They give a torso piece with the rope wrapped around it, which is a nice nod to the panels in which she has that set up. The actual whip is in four sections that allow you to (gently) pop them off and rearrange them to achieve different mid-whip action looks. The figure also comes with two heads, a menacing one, and goggles raised.

Fun Factor: 2/3 There is something I can't quite put my finger on that prevents this from being a top ten. It's got great articulation and accessories and balances well but...I don't know...maybe it's the way the figure handles? It's hard to say.

Verdict: 9/10 Worthy It's a great figure and I think it's well worth adding to your collection, primarily if you collect in the shorter 1/6th scale range of figures and want a posable, clean-looking Catwoman figure. Being modelled after the Hush comics makes it more iconic for many collectors than other versions!

The standard head is very well done, especially the eyes and
fine eyebrows

Also props if you can get a nice transparent look
on action figure goggles or glasses!

The accessories: very thorough! There are maybe like a couple of
panels where she even points with one finger. I'm surprised
by the fact these didn't include an injured head with broken goggles!

Good splits

Awesome balance on the high kick, especially
for a female figure where usually the small foot area
combined with heels just ruins posing.

There are a lot of ways to swivel the whip pieces here to create
different phases of the action

"Surprise assholes!"

This comic cemented their relationship as a
more steady, romantic one rather than a fling.

If you can believe it, there are no
balance aids here. Complete on those claws
which tells you how light and well balanced the construction is!
