Hush is a villainous foil to Bruce Wayne/Batman who tried to kill his parents as a child. He grows up a bit of a psychopath and uses his surgeon skills to literally impersonate other people by sewing on face parts to infiltrate, cause chaos and assassinate others! This is Face-Off but upgraded! In the Hush storyline where he makes his first appearance, Hush is first thought to be Jason Todd in an epic battle at the end, then melts to be revealed as Clayface, THEN the real Hush eventually shows up, and is shot by a reconstructed Two-Face (aka One face now! hah!).
Hush makes a bunch of appearances after this, because what is a Batman villain if they can't escape and do more crime again?! Anyway, this is a pretty great figure. The joints in the foot/knees are a bit loose on mine, but a lot of range here! There's a ton of extras (some of which are VERY small and loseable!!), and they've done some things to make the figure more flexible: the pouches on the belt actually have a hinge that flips up, and the coat is a softer plastic that allows some movement. Being able to swap out the chest decal and belt is a cool feature!
Sculpt&Paint: 3/3 Super well done. I love the hair lock for the Jason Todd head, and the paint is super well done. The red accent lines are extremely clean and looking closer they've added lots of shading to the coat and shinier black lines to the legs. The proportions are also really well done, especially given this is a jacketed figure.
Articulation: 3/3 (30+ points) This has the full range of articulation points, and the posing even looks natural (for a supervillain figure anyway). The toe hinges on mine aren't that moveable, which I'm fine with cause I don't see the point in them most of the time. The belt straps and extended tunic impedes the hip motion a bit, but that is somewhat to be expected. Most of the time the character is shooting or punching so that isn't required.
Accessories: 1/1 This is chock full! There are two bandaged Hush heads, one imposter Jason Todd head (my favourite), four pairs of hands for winding and gun holding, two pistols, two two-face coins, a Robin belt, Robin chest logo, separate winding and of course the stand.
Fun Factor: 3/3 This is the great first appearance Hush, and therefore one of the best! I love the posing, and I'm glad Mafex got to this before the weird gun ban WB put on the DC license figures. Despite how brief Clayface turns up as a fake Jason Todd/Hush reveal, I love the colours and the head part for the look so it'll likely stay that way on the shelf.
Verdict: 10/10 I love having a good villain figure, especially of the Mafex caliber. This is so well done, and definitely a new favourite of mine along with the black version of Batman in Hush.
Angry Hush head |
Even angrier! It looks amazing. Really awesome work on the eyes and black eyeliner despite the dot matrix up close |
My favourite fake Jason Todd head |
This is a cool back of the box art piece |
All dem accessories |
Pretty good balance on this one. Diaphragm and knees are slightly looser but not bad at all. |
Showdown time! |
I just love that they both look like they have wolverine claws |
He's a wizard! |
The Hush Collection so far! I don't love the Joker look and I have quite a few decent ones but I like Harley Quinn. |
