McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse: Murder Machine - Dark Knights: Metal

Bruce Wayne of Earth -44 started out all well and dandy as any regular 'verse Batman: parents murdered, Alfred raises him, becomes Batman, joins the Justice League. Here though, Alfred is horribly murdered by the rogue's gallery. Bruce becomes obsessed with the video of Alfred's death and the void left by his passing. With Cyborg's help, he builds an AI using Cyborg's technologies to protect Bruce and fulfill a role left by Alfred's passing. This AI, Protocol, starts into full Ultron mode by taking over systems like a virus and pretty quickly kills all of Batman's Rogue Gallery.

To make matters more extreme, the machine starts taking over Bruce's mind, replacing him piece by piece with cybernetics. He succumbs, and the League tries to intervene. He kills all of them, ending with Cyborg. AT this point, The Batman Who Laughs recruits him, letting him know his universe is slated to die just like all the others in the Dark multiverses.

This is a pretty simple, bare-bones figure in terms of design. I do like the use of colours in the subtle grey/black as well as some of the suit design elements. It is a bit underwhelming though when you compare all the interesting armored pieces of Cyborg and this Cyborg-Batman amalgamation. The techie-tentacles is a cool accessory though and he has a good range minus one or two points. You have to be careful with the shoulder area since the shoulder pads are soft rubber and fixed.

Sculpt/Paint: 4/5 The colours are cool, as is the design. The paint for the blue lines is pretty clean and well done. The figure is nice and stable as well. I think the only thing they might've done is make the blues and oranges brighter since the dark mutes the colour where in the comic book it's practically fluorescent blue.

Articulation: 5/5 (33 points) It's all there as usual for a McFarlane toy. The waist is easier to use than some, nice head movement, and good range for knees, elbows, ankles and wrists. The shoulder range is slightly inhibited by the shoulder pads since they are separate from the arms. I get the feeling moving them too high might break the pads off over time.

Accessories: 2/5 He comes with his standard stand, card and one extra handpiece which is the cybernetic tentacles. They are a really cool design and sculpt! They always appear to be reaching for something, as proper tentacles should! haha!  Aside from that, nothing else. I would've liked hands with the blast effects maybe as extras.

Fun Factor: 3/5 He looks great on the shelf with his menacing tentacles, and that's likely how he'll always be displayed! His balance is pretty good and the only gripe I have as usual is the rubbery crotch is definitely going to deform over time in different poses and maybe discolor. Time will tell!

Verdict: 14/20 Good A very good figure, excellent for a Dark Knights Metal fan, but aside from that not sure what other reason you'd collect other than having lots of weird Batmen like I do!

Nice Gear Bat symbol!

Problem with rubbery stuff like the shoulder pad is
that iif you pose it with an arm raised for too
long it stays that way unless you use some heat

Great back details!

Accessories! I am likely going to
get the origin coming for him just to see
what else he uses as part of his tech stuff!

Where's my blast effect?!

Decent crouch pose!

Bionic Cthulu arm go!

My favourite pic! A little
dramatic but fun.
