S.H. Figuarts Obito Uchiha - Hollow Dreams of Despair

Obito Uchiha's story is riddled with traumatic moments and tough times that ultimately led him to become completely numb and turn into a villain with a grudge. He is key in implementing the Tsuki No Me (Infinite Tsukoyomi) plan, which aims to put the entirety of the ninja world under an illusion to end all wars. He goes through several iterations and changes in the story.

SPOILERS BELOW!

He begins as a child of the Uchiha during the third great ninja war. He is part of the three-person team of Minato (Naruto's dad) that includes himself, a young Kakashi and his crush, Rin Nohara. During a fierce battle, half his body becomes crushed under a rock, and he gives one of his Sharingan eyes as a gift to Kakshi, who lost his eye in the battle. From there, we find out he in fact didn't die, and has been rescued and revived by a super old Madara Uchiha, who is just barely alive, but teaches Obito what he knows and bonds him to a White Zetsu (a copy of the 1st Hokages cells, allowing a half body transplant that returns him to be fully able to fight once more. Madara convinces him to follow his plan, which involves forming a group to take all the tailed beasts and summon the Ten Tails. This would allow Madara to become the host of the Ten-Tails and project his power onto the surface of the moon.

In between all those plans, Obito goes out to find Rin, sensing she's in danger. He comes at the exact moment Kakashi is manipulated into killing her by Rin herself to avoid releasing the three tails upon Konoha village. Kakashi faints after awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan and Obito goes crazy, killing every ninja there.

After that, Obito continues as the Masked Man, controlling the Nine tails to attack Konoha village, killing Minato, his old teacher and his wife. At this point they seal away the Nine tails half in Naruto, half in Minato as he is dying. Years later, Obito becomes Tobi, and manipulates Nagato, Pain and Konan into using their newly formed Akatsuki organization to execute Obito's plan of piece.

He successfully gets most of the tailed beasts but only summons a partial Ten Tails due to Naruto still having Kurama and Killer B still having 8 tails Gyuuki. He becomes the ten-tailed jinchurikii, then gets backstabbed by a newly resurrected Madara, who has brought himself back to life in the prime of his power. Eventually, he gets Naruto'ed, convinced of the error of his worldview and grudge-filled past.

In this form of Obito, he is still claiming to be Madara and has outfitted himself for the Fourth Shinobi war. He uses Madara's fan weapon and a white mask with three tomoe around in a circle to indicate his power of having acquired one Rinnegan. This figure is a nice battle-marked representation of Obito, and I have to say it's done very well like the others. His accessories are plentiful, his articulation is great (minus the waist), and the paint is clean.

Sculpt & Paint: 3/3 The paint is really clean here, though I would've liked the whites for the costume and fan to be a bit brighter. Also, I wish they could have painted his eyes into his mask, which looks a lot more menacing than the current figure. The figure is well-engineered, and the clothing is well-sculpted to minimize it getting in the way of the range of motion.

Articulation: 3/3 There are all the new standard joints here that work well. The robed left arm has slightly less range than the battle damaged arm, and the legs are slightly impeded by the plastic segmented robe, but really you can get most of what you need out of this. The long headband tails are easy to swivel around to get out of the way as well. The legs have the mid shin cut, thigh cut, ball joints and ankle double balls joints that allow all kind of balancing. They did put a cut below the obi belt for movement but it doesn't quite get much range as you'd see in the other figures in this line.

Accessories: 1/1 You get a lot here! Aside the tons of hands, you have two hands that have the metal rods that extend out to show his new "Six Paths" form. He comes with a real metal section chain that attaches under his armpit and to the end of his large fan weapon, which we've all seen before if you managed to collect Madara Uchiha. He comes with an unmasked head and four face plates, which all look great. Oh! and this also includes a Naruto sage mode face. Awesome! I wonder if they knew they were going to also remake the Naruto Sage Mode version at this point.

Fun Factor: 3/3 He's lots of fun to pose around, though is a bit stiff due to the way the figure is designed (not the sculptors/engineers fault). Despite everything, he balances well (I was pretty surprised he could hold a one leg stand kick).

Verdict: 10/10 Great figure, love all the detail and thought that went into this one. They could easily make all the other forms of Obito of which I think there'd be at least five (Kid Obito, rampaging new body Obito, Masked Man with Kurama Obito, Tobi Akatsuki Obito and Ten Tails Jinchurikii Obito). This one is a great first entry, and with the release of Pain in the new future, I hope they also do all the Akatsuki members.

I'm always so impressed by how well they do the eyes
on these, especially as someone who paints models, this is crazy good detail
whether that's a computer programming paint thing or something else.

Back view. Nice work on the symbol and
little....is it a knife? I have to
rewatch to figure out what's that about

Box art

A plentifulness of accessories!

The robes really allow for some movement without
having it come back and push the legs back in

Used one of my new tamashii nations fire effects for this.
Gets a nice colour in photos!

I believe these are the equivalent of his black rods
one gets with a rinnegan but.....they're blades in the figure?
Again, gotta look into the episodes again

Kakashi gets a nice battle damaged X on his chest during this fight

Really pleased how the new articulation allows
the arms to cross a lot better than the previous line

Full masked Six Path version

new Naruto face plate. Looks pretty good!

The baddies of the Fourth Ninja War (minus the surprise
villain at the end).
