I previously reviewed the story and the old DC Collectible figure of Catwoman here. This version of Catwoman is leagues better. First of all the face sculpt and paint apps are great. They are very accurate and most importantly don't look bloodshot! This has far more flexibility and articulation than even the Arkham Knight version of Catwoman, and comes with her signature whip!
I didn't get to do any comparison pictures here since I had to pack away a bunch of figures to make room in the hobby room. The size is roughly the same as the DC Collectibles, but the DC collectibles has very strange proportions.
My biggest gripe though has to be the rubber crotch area. McFarlane always makes rubbery crotches and most of the time they pass inspection. Usually, a character has a belt or some waist feature that visually blocks it off and reinforces the illusion. Here though, the diaper crotch part is really big. WAY too big, especially the butt. To make matters worse, because she has a flexible ab crunch, leaving it in that position exacerbates the gapping, making it look even worse than it usually would on these figures. Eeeesh. Still very fun to pose though!
Sculpt&Paint 2/3 Not a ton of paint here, but all the detail work is well done. They've got her main zipper, goggles and face painted very well. Other than that it's black, skin tone and a bit of silver on the buckles. McFarlane misses out on painting any of their nicely moulded details, like the buckles all over the suit that are clearly painted in the card images and game screenshots.
Articulation: 3/3 (30 points) Despite my complaints about the crotch, the double joints work well everywhere and because of the frame of the character, she is able to get into more interesting abdominal poses. The black suit hides a lot of the obvious ball joints for the ankles and wrists. Well done!
Accessories: 1/1 She comes with her (unpainted) black whip, which is nicely sculpted. It is stuck in position but works well in many poses. The handles are always huge for weapons for McFarlane though, really strange looking when they aren't in hand. She comes with her standard stand as well as the huge torso for the Solomon Grundy Build-a-figure.
Fun Factor: 2/3 It's pretty fun to pose around. Despite the heels, you can stabilize the figure pretty well and do some dynamic scenes with the whip and clawed hand. I like it!
Verdict: 8/10 Worthy It's a worthwhile figure for the Arkham collector, loads better than the DC collectible one, and is more poseable compared to other companies. I will replace my DC Collectibles one of the shelf with this one permanently and I think you should too!
Well done here, and for the most part I prefer Catwoman with goggles up! |
View from the back. It's part of the game design but wow that's too much fake armor underwear line! |

good posing options here! |
It only took me a little bit to get this stable, which is good considering! |
