This figure scales well with the other DC Mafex film figures, and is decent, though not a great likeness to the actress. The paint and sculpt are great so that helps it out a lot! The accessories are also great even if they have a missed opportunity with the extra head - it has hair in a different style but the expression is more or less the same! Odd.
The articulation has some odd gapping in the shoulder but is otherwise very good as well. You can get her in tons of poses and as an added plus they made her hair out of very soft material so that she can actually turn her head and has some decent range! What?! A female figure with long hair that allows head movement? Yes! It's true.
Sculpt/Paint: 5/5 Great work here, even if it isn't spot on to Gal Gadot's likeness. The skirt and top have really good textures and are cleanly painted. The reds are dark but shiny as are all the gold colours throughout. The skin tone is pretty bland until you get to the face, where the paint and hair sculpture makes it oh so nice!
Articulation: 5/5 (31 points) Like some previous Mafex figures, the articulation is great, minus one or two minor things I have an issue with. The head poses pretty well despite no lower neck joint (assumedly to break up the sculpt less since it is bare skin in that area). The shoulders are good double ball pegs but get weird gaps in certain places. The elbows are doubled but don't go too much beyond 90 degrees. The wrists and ankles are pretty good, and the torso joints offer a ton of range. The drop-down hips and knees also serve this figure extremely well.
Accessories: 4/5 She comes with just about everything: a coiled less she can hang on her harness (removable), a double looped lasso to fight with, her sword (can sheath in the same slot as the rope), shield, multiple hands for holding accessories, a really well-detailed Mother Box and a second head that has hair brought behind the head. All of these are sculpted and painted super well.
My only gripe here is that they didn't bother to change the expression on the other head. It ends up seeming like a lost opportunity especially since the BvS version did actually have a gritted teeth battle expression. Strange!
Fun Factor: 4/5 She looks great in a variety of poses. Ultimately her look isn't my ultimate Wonder Woman but she still looks fantastic on the shelf fighting next to the Justice League Batman. She can't quite maintain a one-legged stance given the tiny feet and smaller balance point.
Verdict: 18/20 Great Though the aesthetics of the articulation maybe aren't ideal, this is a wonder-full (See what I did there) figure if you're a fan of the movies or just want a cool Wonder Woman figure on the shelf. Get this into some battle poses and you'll have tons of fun with it!
A pretty clean face on the paint and it's nice you can't tell at this distance how dot matrixy it is |
Back view |
The accessories. Pretty good! I like the details on the mother box and how the pulled out lasso of truth is that bright colour to symbolize its activation |
Nice kick! Unfortunately like many female characters they make her feet so small with high heel type boots that she's hard to pose one-footed. |
Excellent splits |
Despite the range in the shoulders, I can't get too much better than this for crossed bullet defence! |
Here comes the truth! |
"What's your real name?" "BATMAN" |
All decked out |
Pretty close to a back sword draw! Seems like it would be REALLY hard to draw a sword out of the sheath behind you. |
Ready for Justice |
She has the POWER! |
And so does she! Interesting that the DC Icons version is just as tall and with a more massive sword! |
Wonder Woman Off |
I really like the sword and shield combo for the figure. The shield design is also really nice having soft straps you can stick the whole arm through without detaching things or adding. |
"WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOOX!" |
really nice details! |
Captain Themyscira! |
