Mafex Medicom The Dark Knight Rises Batman 3.0

I really thought that Christopher Nolan did a great job of his Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises set of films. They were meant to be his own universe and his own slightly more realistic (as realistic as you can get with a superhero) take on Batman. There have been a few releases of Mafex Batmen from these movies, and out of the few I've seen, this one from The Dark Knight Rises seems to be one of the best all around. I much preferred the second film, but I enjoyed them all in their own way.

This and the Joker are my first Mafex figures, so I was really excited to have them and see what Mafex has been doing. They didn't disappoint. The details in sculpting and paint seem often superior to what S.H. Figuarts does, the articulation is top notch and the accessories are plentiful.
Also, this is my first figure that has a bendy-wire cape! So much fun what you can do with this guy!
This one has definitely become a top figure in my collection.

Sculpt/Paint: 5/5 The sculpted details on this are amazing. There isn't a single detail missed. There's enough paint to make the parts of the figure stand out and the one thing that makes this THE Bat Bale figure is the face painting/sculpting. It looks absolutely spot on, and when you're making a movie figure, that's key. The textures throughout the suit are supremely done. Even the bottom of the boots has full sculpting.

Articulation: 5/5 (33 points) This figure has just as many points as you would expect in an S.H. Figuarts. It has the double jointed everything, including a very poseable head and neck joint (though it still can't quite look directly upwards). The best thing though is nearly every joint has a really good range. You can easily pose the arms and legs and torso in really dynamic action poses. The belt is floating and the crotch is a softer plastic that allows a bit of push when you are creating stances. The only range that is somewhat limited is the wrists, which don't allow them to completely get to 90-degree drops. Not that it's exactly a point of articulation, but his cape has two bendy wires as well that allow some good posing options.

Price/Availability: 4/5 80ish CAD  You can still find this figure quite a few places for its original market value price (which is very reasonable considering it's a very high-quality figure).

Accessories: 5/5 So. Many. Things. I know I say that all the time, but I feel like they included most every gadget he has in the films (all 3). First, he has 6 sets of hands. 1 pair punching, 1 pair style/open pose, 2 different sets for gripping different weapons, 1 Batarang holding pair, and 1 pair of trigger finger hands. Maybe even more hands than necessary! He comes with his neutral head, shouting head, and echolocation type head. That's not all!

He also comes with his grappling gun, 3 golden batarangs (love these but they are SO tiny), his sticky bomb gun and his EMP rifle. His belt has a notch you can also attach one of the guns. Also, he comes with the stand. Cool cool cool.

Fun Factor: 5/5 So good. He can take a variety of poses, is well balanced, looks kick ass on the shelf, and the bendy wire cape really allows for more looks and options. He has a great likeness and frankly, I have a new favourite Batman figure (for now!).

Verdict: 24/25 Amazing. This is an amazing Batman. I don't know why it took me so long to look into the Mafex line, because he is great. The only reason I see people not getting this one is if they are really not into the Christopher Nolan movies. It does well at pretty much everything!

A seriously good likeness (though it does help that with
a Batman figure you only need half the face)

Pretty decent kick range, but not necessarily the best.
The rubbery crotch area restricts it a bit.

Yes, you CAN wrap him in the cape. Not perfect,
but better a look than most other capes I've used!

This cape can spread pretty far without any support!

He's comin' atcha!

Pretty good neck mobility in looking up

SWEAR TO ME!

Batarang dance

Sticky bomb gun.

EMP Rifle

Grapnel gun

ALL THE GEAR

He can see through you!

Who's next?!

The wild Batman will often flap its wings when
angered!

Pretty good! I mean, those are tiny teeth.

Swoop tackle!

Seriously, this cape is amazing. I've never had so much
fun with a figure cape.

I noticed in the Nolan flicks that you don't
actually see a ton of variety in the fights aside from
 the occasional kick or elbow.
