Playmates Toys' Dogpound - TMNT 2012 series

Dogpound is one of the many mutant minions that is original to the TMNT 2012 show. Originally Chris Bradford, a martial artist celebrity and secret servant to Shredder, he encounters the turtles and accidentally becomes exposed to the mutagen that turns him into Dogpound. Given he was last bitten by Shredder's akita dog, he becomes a monstrous dog creature covered in bony spikes along with a monstrous left arm with spiked knuckles.

He later mutates even further into Razhar, definitely a more sinister version, but I actually prefer his character as the smarmy, sarcastic, celebrity human self.  This is perhaps because he is modeled a bit after an evil type of Chuck Norris, which is hilarious.I bought this figure cause the sheer bulk of him compared to the turtles seemed like it was a neat difference that I hadn't really seen in the original toys from the 1980s.

Despite the fact the figure is extremely top heavy, the legs and tail keep him satisfyingly upright. Like the other figures I'd discover in the line, he isn't super poseable, but is just generally neat to look at and have on the shelf. Paint and sculpt was ok as well, though you can't argue with the cheap price I got him at (11 CAD). He's actually not as easy to find cheap anymore, except on eBay and even there, shipping won't be kind to you unless you live in the continental U.S.

Sculpt&Paint: 2/5 It's ok, but there's unpainted belt details, and a lack of solid sculpting that showcases the muzzle, mustache-like fur, and his intense red eyes that he has in the show. Not quite up to snuff

Articulation 2/5 (13 points) The one thing this line does really well for articulation is the hinge/swivel shoulders and hips that allow a really nice range of motion. If you compared them to the adult collector lines of Legends or DC Collectibles, they would often do better on that score. Aside that, he has waist swivel, his tail swivels and he also has some wrist swivel. The head swivels too, but due to the sculpt, only gives him some attitude side to side.

Price/Availability: 3/5 He's a bit hard to find these days, and HUGELY expensive on Amazon.ca (95 CAD!!!). You can find him reasonably on eBay, but even then there aren't a ton of choices.

Accessories: 5/5 I'm giving him this score because his mutated form doesn't use weapons or anything else really. He eventually transforms into Razhar, but that's a whole other figure.

Fun Factor: 2/5 I don't play a ton with this particular figure, but he balances well enough and looks pretty fierce next to the other turtles. Just ok!

Verdict: 14/25 Okay He's alright, and looks neat enough! I like his Wolverine-ish aesthetic, but there's not many reasons I could give to actually buy this figure at this point.

Back view. I didn't notice the damage and paint
showing through until now!

"Give us a hug!"

Cheating kick: Tail as a balance!

In fights he does not use his bone claws as much as you'd think!

Break dance fight!
Turtle team up Vs. Dogpound!

  1. Dogpound certainly looks good battling the turtles. My favourite bits with him are the "Chris Bradford's 2 Ruff Krew" episodes from season 4. I disliked the Rahzar mutation.
