Mafex Medicom Huntress - Batman Hush

Helena Bertinelli is a vigilante similar to Batman. Her parents were killed by the mafia and she donned a costume and went out to stop organized crime. She is often in a purple and white motif suit with expertise in several martial arts, typically sporting a staff, crossbow, bullwhip and some other projectiles. She is not bound by Batman's code, however, and has killed when she decides it is called for.

In the Hush storyline, Huntress saves Batman after a mysterious cut to his bat grapple, landing him with a fractured skull. She staves off some criminals, saving Batman and starting a mystery involving several of Batman's rogues' galleries.

I don't really have an interest in the Huntress per se, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy a really well-done female figure by Mafex for the DC universe that wasn't from one of the many terrible movies. The figure has some amazing articulation and accessories. Five pairs of hands, the staff, two heads and I love that Mafex does bendy wire capes. This one even has a wire in the bottom! My one frustration is that the hands slip out waaaay too easily and the one arm on this one also pops out too easily if you raise it to the shoulder level.

Sculpt & Paint: 3/3b Really accurate sculpt and details. The paint is clean as per usual, maaaaybe they could've added more details to the bootstraps, but it is accurate to the comic.

Articulation: 3/3 The head and core joints are very poseable, even with a stiff hair piece. The knee and elbow joints work well, ankles are a ball joint with a toe hinge, and the shoulders have a cap with a ball peg insert.

Accessories: 1/1 Given the extremely short appearance by Huntress in Hush, this has everything from the comics. It would've been nice had they had her use her crossbow in Hush, it's kind of iconic for the character! She really is mostly a ranged fighter.

Fun Factor: 2/3 I gotta take a point off her for a couple of reasons. Her cape is fun to pose, and her weight isn't bad, but the hands and shoulder joints were pretty frustrating. As soon as you try to move the wrists and change the weapon position, they fall out instantly. I will likely put some white glue in a layer to make it stiffer, but it is probably so common with this figure, that it's noted in Reddit threads. Not ideal.

Verdict: 9/10 Amazing It's a really solid release, and I would hazard to guess one of the most articulated Huntress action figures at this scale. Watch those hands though!

One thing I love about Mafex (and SH Figuarts is upping their
game in this arena) is how clean and crips their comic book-adapted characters are. The gold accessories really shine here.

View from the back, nothing too excited, but
do note that there is a lot of volume to the cape
which is great for posing plus the extra bendy wire at the bottom

Very nice flexibility, balance was a bit thicker on this
one than the average mafex because of the extra
cape weight.

Sweet sweet kicks. At this point the hands have fallen off
a ton and the left arm comes out of it's socket a bit too easy...sigh

VERY blurry accessory photos but it's pretty basic. Again
should have a crossbow I feel

Amazing pointing action!

Spear throw!

She looks and fits amazingly well on the
DC Icons Batgirl of Burside Deluxe set motorcycle
Plus it helps her motorcycle is close to the same minus some
gold crosses for bling on the sides.

I might need to just leave her like this in display!
