DC Icons - Wonder Woman (Amazo Virus)

She's a demigod, nigh invincible and the top female superhero in DC!
First appearing in comics in 1941, her original concept was that she was sculpted from clay and infused with life by Aphrodite. The newer story is that she is the daughter of Zeus.
This

This figure takes its likeness from the Justice League: Amazo Virus story line of 5 comics. In it, Lex Luthor has created a virus that has the ability to copy the meta-human abilities of those it encounters.
She is somewhat different from other versions of the Amazon warrior in that she has silver rather than gold metal adornments. Also her sword is MASSIVE. We'll get into that.

I was really excited to find this figure at a local video game retailer. I was just a little bit disappointed in two features however:
1) The face is not the same as the promos. It's not awful, but the promo pictures are definitely better. See them here.
2) They painted..red polished nails on all the hands. I don't have a problem with beautification, but nowhere in the comics does Wonder woman have painted nails. I also feel that generally speaking Amazon warriors wouldn't paint their nails. Maybe that's just me.

Aside the paint applications on the face, this is an otherwise great figure. She's got tons of posability, a lot of good accessories, and is well sculpted.

Sculpt&Paint: 7/10 Good. The sculpt work on this is really well done. The paint lines are pretty clean and there is a good amount of glossy and shiny paints. The sculpted hair and skirt are quite soft so they do not impede movement. The face seems a bit wider than typical of Wonder woman's more aquiline features, and clearly the lips are not painted well.

Articulation: 8/10 Great (25 points). Her articulation is really good.  Aside the standard DC icons articulation of double ab points, wrist, elbow and knee, her hips have a newer point where they can be dropped down slightly to allow greater kick movement forward tighter than 90 degrees with the body. This kind of articulation used to be only in SH Figuarts, so I'm glad to see it in the DC Collectibles lines. As a side bonus, the sabatons (plates covering the tops of her feet), have a hinge! I don't know if it was completely necessary, but it's neat anyway.

Price/Availability 7/10 Good. Given how recently it was released (April 2017), you can still find this figure at standard pricing. Stores will sell it and it's still readily available online (eBay, Amazon, BBTS etc).

Accessories: 4/5 This one pretty much as it all. A MASSIVE sword that is half her height. She also has soft plastic open lasso, and coiled one, weapon holding hands and closed fist hands, a shield that pegs into a back harness and an arm strap. AND a loop to hold her sword. Seriously, pretty much everything you want. I don't really like how loosely her hand grips the sword, or how the shield pegs into the arm straps. The back part is also annoying since once it's in, the head is perpetually tilted forward because the back strap fits underneath the hair piece. No figure will be 100 percent perfect in this regard...unless you shell out the money for a Hot toys or Mafex toy or some such. Still really impressed with what the figure came with.

Fun Factor: 3/5 This figure is a really cool figure, though isn't perfectly balanced. It is hard to get her outside a regular standing pose because of the high heel wedge footwear she has makes her unbalanced despite the ankle articulation AND she has a lot of extra weight at the top from her accessories and hair. I really love all the dynamic poses you can get this figure into with her accessories despite that. Still wish they had done a better job of painting the face however.

Verdict: 29/40 Great. I really recommend getting this figure. I think if you have good painting skills, it would be an even better figure (I'm not quite there yet). She is more poseable than any other Wonder woman in the 20-40 dollar price range, and has great accessories. Get it!

Deflecting bullets like a boss!

The mugshot isn't that bad, but the lip bothers me, and the eyes
are slightly misaligned.

Nice amount of accessories!
Fight the patriarchy!

"You know, I'd tell you my secret identity anyway"

She-ra!
Sweep the leg!
That's a tall sword my friends

Very high kick! No balance though. Had
to prop her against the photobooth.

Super splits!
Back shield peg. Note how the hair can't come down flush
with the back with that on.
View from the front with shield pegged in.
With shield on the peg. Hair stays lifted!

Shield arm peg

Sword cut!

Leaping thrust

Some of the accessories on the belt
Something I discovered is that her first actually fits into
the peg of the shield so she can hold it straight forward.
I don't know if this was intentional or accidental, but either way, neat!

Leaping! On a side note, the Golden age
wonder woman couldn't fly. They did that
to make her distinct from Superman. This is
also true of the DC films.
