S.H. Figuarts Kid Naruto Uzumaki - Unexpected No. 1 Slapstick Ninja

Ever since they restarted the Naruto line for S.H. Figuarts, I have been more or less all in! I missed out on some web exclusives like Jiraiya, but they are doing so well at releasing new figures for this line, I am preordering things left, right, and center. I got this version of Naruto a while back, and am finally ready to review it.

This version of Naruto is featured in Part 1 of the anime, preceding Shippudden and running for roughly 220 episodes. It had some missable filler, but I did enjoy it when it featured other members of the 12 main Konoha kid ninjas. This Naruto is 12-13 years old here, and is still coming into his own, learning from his teachers and trying to reckon with the demon fox creature sealed inside of him by his parents before their death.

He is a lot more comedic in this part, pulling pranks, being loud and boisterous, and really letting out his feelings! This is well represented in this action figure. He comes with tons of hands, his rasengan energy effect, a kunai knife, and the best face plates featuring expressions and includes his fox cloak face form and hands. As per the other figures in this renewed line, Naruto has amazing articulation aided by hollow caps and waist areas to allow a lot more posing and flexibility. Also, they've managed to hide the jarring hip swivels a bit better here.

Sculpt & Paint: 3/3 The figure is an accurate sculpt down to the correct proportions and size compared to his Shippudden counterpart. Even the little do-dad (I don't know what it's called) on his shoulder is sculpted on without it being fragile. There is not a lot of paint needed here, but there is some shading throughout and they did a great job of painting the face plates.

Articulation: 3/3 (40 points): The entire figure has pretty amazing joint work with a lot of range. The hollow caps in the ankles, shoulders and waist piece allow for a lot more side motion than comparable imports or even SH Figuarts previously released. The only minor issue is the back bend isn't as pronounced as taller figures in the line and there is slight limitations on the head due to the collar, but there isn't much to be done about that.

Accessories: 1/1 If I could give a higher rating here I could. They've gone above and beyond with this line by including a comical face plate, the fox form accessories and his regular weapons. Great additions all!

Fun Factor: 3/3 This is a top figure for me and a treasure in my collection. Tons of posing and options really make it shine on a shelf. It balances very well and is enjoyable to play with.

Verdict: 10/10 Expect the next many interviews to be 9s or 10s because of my hardcore fandoming of this line and anime/manga. Perfect figure for me.

I always love the packaging on this line, how they do
bold outlining on all the cuts and joints and seams. Looks
like a cool art style

All the accessories. It would be neat if they could've found a way
to give him his demon fox cloak effect but I'm not really sure how that would work, so for this figure
the options are great.

Excellent balance and weight

Can't have a Naruto figure without
doing that classic run

Rasengan build up!
Forgot to use his proper top hand for this

"How can you be late ALL THE TIME?!"

One thousand years of death! KANCHO!

Decent heights for these scales. Funny that kid naruto is bulkier looking at the waist.
To be fair, he did wear baggier clothes in part 1.
