These have been sitting on the back burner for a while now, so this week will be all about the effects pieces! The Effect Thunder is a set of three clip-on lightning pieces, including a large base lightning piece, an attaching columnar lighting piece that plugs into the base, and a single straight lightning piece that plugs into the top of all three. They did a good job here, making the lightning erratic in direction. I love the clear green on it, though sometimes I feel the white translucent plastic highlighting might take away a little too much in some cases. The pieces are very pokey! The figure attachment pieces are a little more difficult to put on than the fire ones, but overall, this is very cool! If you have a Deku figure or anyone else with a greenish lightning effect, this is a solid must-have! It does work for some of my Blue Lightning users, but I will probably get that specific set in the future anyway.
Aesthetic: 2/3: These pieces photograph really well and are quite dynamic. The sculpting is well done and reflects the best jagged and zig-zaggy shapes they could probably pull off, given how difficult it is to make small moulds of pieces that delicate. The part that loses me a bit is the translucent white in all the effects. It has too much volume in some of the pieces and kills some of the bright effect of the green. I think playing with filters and such will likely fix all that, but it's something to consider when getting the lightning effects.
Durability: 0/1 These are definitely delicate pieces! You have to be somewhat cautious with these as dropping them onto a hard surface or have a figure fall on them at the right point could snap a part, given how they extend in multiple places.
Functionality: 2/2 These fit in really well with figures who have or can be surrounded by lightning effects. The limb plugging pieces look great, and the base with column effect gives the appearance of a super saying kind of power up. I find the most useful way to attach the limb plugging pieces is by pinching them at finger joints more than anything.
Verdict: 4/6 Good. These are high-quality pieces that work really well with your figure, though just note the white parts and the fact that a Blue ver. may fit in better with some figures than this green one. This is worth it!
